When I say this work from Hofesh Shechter set my thoughts adrift, I don’t mean that the performance failed to capture my attention. Quite the opposite—it held me in a trance, my eyes fixed on the dancing and my mind zigzagging in step with its euphoric twists and turns. The tantric pitch of the choreography—compelling, unyielding, engulfing, shored up with a moody EDM-style soundscape by the dancemaker himself—tickled something in my brain. At some point I slipped into a daze and let the pulse impel me along.
